Judul Proceeding: Local Wisdom As A Foundation For Strengthening Religious Moderation
Sinopsis This proceedings volume presents a collection of scholarly articles that explore the dynamic interaction between Islamic values, local traditions, communication practices, Qur’anic studies, and social realities within Bugis society and broader Indonesian contexts. The studies employ interdisciplinary approaches—ranging from Islamic law, da’wah communication, Qur’anic exegesis, interpersonal communication, to educational management and marketing communication—highlighting how Islamic teachings are contextualized in local cultures and contemporary challenges. Several articles focus on local traditions and rituals within Bugis communities, such as Mabbilang Esso in traditional marriages, Makkatte, and Mappe’no Ota rituals. These studies critically examine the meaning, symbolic communication, and da’wah messages embedded in cultural practices, analyzing their compatibility with Islamic law and values. The findings demonstrate that local traditions can function as effective media for Islamic teachings when aligned with sharia principles, reinforcing social harmony and religious moderation. Other contributions examine Islamic perspectives in Qur’anic studies, including discussions on children’s rights in the Qur’an, values of religious moderation in Tafsir al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab, and multicultural values in Tafsir al-MunÄ«r. These articles emphasize Islam’s commitment to justice, inclusivity, moderation, and respect for diversity, particularly in the socio-cultural landscape of the Bugis community. In the field of communication studies, several articles analyze interpersonal and organizational communication in maintaining institutional harmony, reducing public anxiety during the COVID-19 vaccination program, and implementing effective marketing communication strategies in local businesses. These studies underline the strategic role of communication in strengthening social cohesion, public trust, and community resilience. Additionally, the proceedings include research on Islamic educational management, specifically the implementation of student-interest-based management in Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Bone Regency, reflecting efforts to improve educational quality through participatory and student-centered approaches. Overall, this proceedings volume contributes significantly to the discourse on the integration of Islamic teachings, local wisdom, communication practices, and contemporary societal issues. It offers valuable insights for academics, practitioners, policymakers, and students interested in Islamic studies, communication, education, and socio-cultural research in Indonesia.
